Have you ever had a period in your life where you were truly happy, but didn’t really know why?
Right now I can say that for the first time in a really long time I am truly happy. I am content at where my life is. I’m at peace with the people that have stayed in my life, and the ones that have not.
I am excited for each day. For the first time in a really long time I am genuinely happy.
I used to be so anxious. Anxious about many things.
School. Work. The future. Who my friends were. My family. Just life in general.
A few weeks ago something changed. I finally stopped acting like I had it all together. I stopped pretending like I am okay. I stopped pretending like I knew what was best for me.
I finally surrendered every ounce of fear, anxiety, and loneliness, over to God.
I knew what I wanted in life. I knew exactly where I wanted to be, and who I wanted to be with, and for the firs time I allowed God to be in control. I put my full trust in Him.
And it hasn’t been the same since.
I have seen things happen that never would have happened before.
I stopped worrying, and started praying. Every single day I would pray the same prayer. I would give over those worries to God. I would literally lay everything down at the foot of the cross. Every ounce of every fear. Every ounce of every anxiety. Everything.
I am so grateful for God not turning me away. I am so thankful for God being there when I thought I had no one to talk to. Late at night when I desperately needed to tell someone something, He was there listening.
I finally stopped putting my trust in others, and started putting it in Him.
And I’m so glad I did.
The struggles you are facing are hard, I know that. You’re scared, and you have no idea where to turn.
Laying everything down at His feet is the best place to start.
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
