We’re living in a world with 6 billion people, and yet we still feel alone.
We are constantly crowded by strangers, friends, family and we still feel like we’re living this secluded life. We feel distant. We feel isolated. We feel alone.
The hardest part for me is feeling distant from God. Still feeling alone even though I know I have Him. I sometimes wonder where He is when my life is crumbling. Where is God when things aren’t going my way? Where is He when I need Him? And why do I feel so alone?
I don’t know the answer.
But I do believe that we go through periods of time where we’re simply lonely. We simply want affection, and to feel wanted. To feel needed even. We just want someone to want us.
We want someone to be able to call at 2am when things are going wrong.
We want someone to care how our day went. We want someone to be there for the good but also the bad. We just want someone. I don’t know the answers for how to not feel alone. I don’t think there’s an easy fix to feeling isolated. But I can tell you one thing: God is always here.
Things might not be going right in my life at the moment, but God never left me. If anyone left, it was I who left. He hasn’t gone anywhere.
The nights I’m crying in my room, wanting so desperately to have someone to go to, all I have to do is pray. All I have to do is talk to God, and He’s there.
God is there for you in the bad times. I am not going to try to justify why bad things happen, but just know that you aren’t alone.
God is there when you feel lonely, and you want to just run back to that bad relationship you were in previously.
God is there when you think seeing the bottom of that bottle will cure the loneliness.
God is there when a needle seems to be your only friend.
God is there when one more pill seems like it’s the only way to get through the day.
God is there when you’re sitting in the floor, with tears running down your face and you just want to give up. You’re tired of feeling alone, and you want to feel whole again. He is there.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that God is the answer to these things. God is one prayer away from feeling whole. God is one prayer away from feeling right. God is only one prayer away.
You don’t need a substitute for God’s love. There is no substitute. No one can compare to Him.
If you want my answer to how not to feel alone, then I would tell you that loneliness can be changed into wholeness with the love of God. All you have to do is run into His arms. You don’t need the arms of someone else to do that for you.
We’re living in a world with 6 billion people and all you need is one to truly confide in:
