Tell It Tuesday w/B Parker| Who is the Best Valentine You Can Have?

Valentines Day is full of chocolates, stuffed animals, dates, and roses.

Unless, you’re single.

Then it’s probably full of moping around, or sitting in bed with a spoon and your favorite ice cream. Maybe a few tissues.

We all have this idea that Valentines Day is about relationships. Not just relationships in general, but whether or not we have a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Valentines Day is a day to celebrate love, right? But, society says this day is to celebrate couples, and not just love.

You see, Valentines Day is so much more than chocolate. It’s more than receiving gifts, and going on a date. It’s more than that. It’s about love. That’s it. Nothing more.

I used to get disappointed every February when I realized this would be another year I’d be single on Valentines Day. Society makes it like we need to have a date, on this one day every year. Why does this one day even matter? It’s just a Holiday to show love. It’s not a Holiday that requires a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Over the years, I stopped caring. I mean, I’m single the other 364 days out of the year, so why should I care about this 1 day. I shouldn’t.

Because we all have the right to celebrate love. We have the most amazing person who loves us with all His heart.

He doesn’t buy us flowers, He bought our life with His.

He doesn’t need to send us a stuffed animal to show how much He cares, His forgiveness shows that.

A holiday isn’t needed, He shows us His love 365 days out of the year.

God is the best Valentine you can ever have.

So if you are single this year, it’s okay. Celebrate by showing God’s love to others.

If you’re in a relationship, then that’s great too! This is a holiday to spread love, and it’s okay to celebrate that with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

My point is, don’t make this Valentines Day all about whether or not you’re single, because if you do, then you’re missing the whole point of this day. Show love!
