Tell It Tuesday w/B. Parker! The Best List to Make Before 2015!

2015. A new year. A time for new beginnings. A time for new friendships, and mending the broken ones, and saying goodbye to the ones holding you back. A time where you set new goals. A time where you tell yourself you’re going to do great things.

For me, every year before the clock hits midnight, I write down a list. A list of things I want to accomplish. Usually the list is long, and sometimes not realistic. It used to be about physical things I wanted.

Like for example:

-lose 20 pounds

-get a car

-get a job

-find a group of friends

-get a boyfriend

-and so on.

My list was comprised of things I thought would make my next year the best yet.

Things I thought would change me. Change my life. Change everything. Month by month, those things would not get checked off my list.

I would barely think about that list past the second week in January.

I made a list of things I wanted, but never really set out to do. Slowly, I did change. Year by year, I grew into a different person. I would still write that list on New Years Eve. But something change. My list was no longer what I wanted to change physically in my life.

My list became things I wanted for my life.

-I want to make a difference.

-I want to make someone smile.

-I want to be happy.

-I want to pray more.

-I want to actually stick through a whole devotional without skipping months.

-I want to be a better person.

-I want someone to look at me and see Christ.

-I want someone to look at me and want to be different.

-I want to inspire someone.

Every year I write a list. And usually, every year I just transfer that list to the next list because I never accomplished any of it. This year it’s going to be different. Not because I am saying it’s going to be, but because I am going to make it different.

Before the clock hits midnight, I will write my list. I will make it a list worth accomplishing. I will write down my hopes and dreams for 2015, and I will accomplish them during this next year, that might not be the best year of my life, but it will be a year full of dreaming, achieving, and making a difference.

How about you?

What will your next year be like?

Set goals, dream big, and go out to achieve them.

This might not be the best year of your life, but it’s your year, and your life. What will you make of it?

Yours Truly,

Brittany Parker
