Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.- Arthur Ashe

Hey guys!! Let’s start this post off with a confession, as I so love to do! I have a SERIOUS addiction to stationery. Notebooks and planners, in particular. I have so many!! It is very possible that I could build a house with all of the notebooks that I own. It is a serious addiction. The is never a reason that I do not need another notebook.

HOWEVER, I cannot continue to frivolously spend on things like this. So bringing into play another one  of my great loves “D.I.Y”, I decided that instead of buying another notebook or planner. I would make one!! Just in time for back to school, a new job, new personal project or just something to do. Here, is how I made my own planner.

    Here’s what you need:

    • Notebook (of your choosing). The one that I chose was lined but I think a graphing notebook could work too.
    • Ruler (or just a straight edge)
    • Writing utensils ( I liked to use a pencil to draw out my lines)
    • A calendar. Just to make sure your days are correct. The one on your phone will work just fine.

I feel like this is pretty self explanatory. I used current my planner (I mentioned that I am an addict, right?), just to be sure that I had all of my days in the right places. Now, if all that you need is one big calendar per month just so you can mark the days.  You can just make one of these for each month and stop here! Easy, right? If you would like to get a bit more out of your planner, keep going!

    Goals!!!

This section of the planner was particularly important to me because I have not always been a goal driven person. I used to and still do from time to time, just wing it. So it is important to me, to actually take the time monthly and even weekly to get my goals down on paper. That way I have them somewhere as a constant reminder that “this is what I am working toward”. It really helps me to stay positive and keep going when I am having a hard time.

    Weekly!!!

This page is really, at least for me, where the magic happens. Sunday, is the day that I usually sit down and write everything in my planner that I need to remember for the week. Where I insert all of my reminders from “big meeting on Tuesday” to “don’t forget to meditate”. This page for me is EVERYTHING! It is LIFE!

    That is all folks!!…

Well sort of.. I kept my planner basic just to give you guys some artistic license. I am just trying to say to have some fun with it. Go crazy with the colors, stickers, glitter or whatever it is that you love!! Make your planner as fun, beautiful and personal as you can. You really want to give yourself something that make planning the week something that you look forward to. So have some fun!!
